I looked online and I found that it is becoming more common for violence to happen in the work place. For the young woman that they found dead at Yale to a young female they found dead who was killed by a co-work where she worked at a Tim Horton’s.
According to Government status 517 people nationwide were murdered at work last year, which is down 52% from 1990 but the bulling and harassment are up. I think its horrible how there is a rise in violence at the work place especially towards women. The young girl that was killed at the Tim Horton’s, her family tried to go around and install free panic buttons at business so that way if there was a problem at work there would be a way for the employees to get help. Many of the business turned down the free offer because they thought it was pointless because they were from a small town and nothing ever bad happened there. But the business that did take the offer felt that crime is everywhere not just in big cities and they were happier that there was some sort of an action being taken to protect their employees.
I think this relates to Women Studies because it shows that there is violence at the work place in all parts of the country and it shows that even though there is violence out there towards women there is action being taken to help prevent it.
